Structural Work
Distance runners rarely fail from lack of strength. They fail when the system loses organization late in the run. The hips drop. The stride shortens. Force leaks sideways instead of backward.
Structural work exists to keep the system organized under fatigue. Not to build power. But to maintain coordination for 75–90 minutes.
Running fitness collapses when structure collapses.

When Something Feels Off
Mechanical Fixes
What It Trains
- Single-leg stability
- Hip extension endurance
- Anti-rotation control
- Rib cage and pelvis alignment
- Mechanical durability late in runs
Rib Cage and Pelvis
When ribs flare upward
- Pelvis tilts forward
- Glutes lose leverage
- Hamstrings take over
When ribs stack over pelvis
- Glutes extend the hip correctly
- Force travels backward
- Stride becomes cheaper
Cue during running
Wide ribs. Quiet chest.
Structural work should remain small enough
that it never interferes with the running.
